HSE University-St Petersburg Dormitories Are Ready to Accept Students in the New Academic Year
HSE University-St Petersburg has five owned dormitories on Shevchenko, Lensoveta, Zaporozhskaya, Vitebskaya and Serpuhovskaya Streets. All of them are in good condition and ready to provide students with the necessary level of comfort. Each building has Wi-Fi, cosy rooms, necessary household and kitchen appliances as well as convenient coworking spaces where one can study and communicate with peers from different cities and countries. Besides, recently, the university has renovated dormitories on Shevchenko and Vitebskaya Streets.
Recently, extensive repair has been finished in the dormitory building on Shevchenko Street. All communications systems were renewed: water pipelines, waste piping, heating and wiring. The interior of the residential premises has also changed: bedrooms, halls in lodging units, kitchens and shower rooms were renovated. At the beginning of the academic year, it is planned to check more than 100 students in the dormitory.
The main visual reference for the project was the refreshed interior of the building on Kantemirovskaya Street which combined visual accents with muted tones. The residential premises are minimalistic and light, with new furniture and shower rooms. Some rooms are for two people, and others—for four. Hall and kitchen spaces are common for all.
For comfortable leisure time, the ground floor is equipped with a coworking space with TVs, bookcases, board games and lots of other things, the plan also includes the renovation of a gym. Besides, all the students residing in the dormitory can use a laundry room.
Andrey Maikov, 3rd-year student of the Bachelor's programme 'Political Science and World Politics'
Looking at the renovation, I see that the university truly cares about us and our comfort! I like the refreshed interior—light and modern. Bedrooms and halls became much more spacious and cosier. The floors now have zones with tables and sofas—these are amazing spaces for work and leisure.
The location of the dormitory is very convenient: it is easy to reach the university buildings on Kantemirovskaya and Griboyedova Canal Embankment. Besides, I can easily walk to the Gulf of Finland and 'Sevkabel Port', a popular cultural space. Overall, living on Vasilievsky Island is awesome on its own!
Yaroslav Skornyakov, 2nd-year student of the programme 'International Bachelor’s in Business and Economics'
The renovations are very well made, in pleasant tones which do not strike the eye. Each neighbour has enough space, now we have more personal space. All rooms are in excellent condition, I am especially grateful for blackout curtains: it is a real salvation during the St Petersburg white nights. The main advantages of the whole dormitory for me are convenient infrastructure and good location. Vasilievsky Island is the best district in St Petersburg, there is beautiful architecture, lots of parks and, of course, the Gulf!
Irina Omelchenko, 3rd-year of the Bachelor's programme 'Public Policy and Analytics'
The impressions of the renovations in the dormitory on Shevchenko Street are the most pleasant. A room for four is very spacious! The shower is done well, and the tile is nice. But most of all, I would like to highlight the common space on the floor. The sofas here are perfect for meetings and communication with neighbours and friends. The kitchen is also wonderful and very photogenic!
I used to live in the dormitory on Vitebskaya Street. I saw the pictures after the renovation—I liked everything a lot. I'm looking forward to the beginning of the academic year when I'll be able to see everything with my own eyes!
Besides, HSE University-St Petersburg carried out major renovations in the dormitory on Vitebskaya Street. The students will move into the refreshed buildings at the beginning of the academic year. The rooms are for two or three people, and there are also studios with private shower rooms and kitchens as well as a common coworking space in the loft style. In addition, in 2024, the university launched major repairs in the dormitory for 72 people on Krupskaya Street.
For 2025, it is planned to start renovations in the dormitory on Serpukhovskaya Street. The university has already started developing the project, it will have been done by the end of 2024. The work will result in new interior solutions, in the future, they will be discussed with the student community.
