The 39th issue of the legendary journal is devoted to Turkish design. The issue has been made possible thanks to the cooperation and partnership between the HSE University Art and Design School and Sabanci University in Istanbul. The journal was created by Ivan Vorontsov, curator at the HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School, and colleagues from Sabanci University—Onur Yazicigil, typographer, font designer and professor, and Selcuk Artut, media artist, designer, and head of Design at the Sabanci University.

The issue presents the author's view on Turkish design and represents a new stage in the history of the journal, which is now published in English and focused on the research and individual features of national design schools.

Mitya Kharshak is the Editor-in-Chief and publisher of the journal, while Ivan Vorontsov serves as art director. The journal features fonts made by students of the HSE University Art and Design School and the TypeType studio, a partner of the school.

The history of the journal goes back to 2007. It has gone through a lot of changes, but has never stopped in all these years. Today, together with our colleagues from Sabanci University and the international design community, we move forward to make Projector a truly transborder medium. In times of instability, political and economic turbulence, design as an international language of visual communication remains one of the bridges that connect us. At the end of June, we celebrated World Industrial Design Day with the international conference 'Design-Diplomacy'. This communicative transborder function of design is extremely important to me these days. Design is a creative and truly demiurgic profession.

The presentation in St Petersburg will be held on September 1 at 8 pm in the Fontanka 69 gastrohub at the meeting 'Drinking Buddy № 1. Day of Knowledge with Mitya Kharshak'. Registration is available via the link.

On September 13, the presentation of the journal will be held in Istanbul. The issue and presentation are partnered with the 'Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design' programme at Sabanci University. The event will take place in the hundred-year-old Minerva Han building, which was built in the early 20th century as a bank and is now used as the university's communications centre.

Projector is an international journal about design and fine arts which has been published since 2007. Previous issues have been devoted to Japanese, Dutch, Swiss, Danish, Finnish, and American design schools.
