Course Syllabus

Abstract

The seminar is devoted to the development of managerial and soft skills as team-building and team-working, cross-cultural communications, and time-management. On completing the course, the stydents will be able to work in international teams, capture synergies from team work, manage effectively their time, overcome procrastination and present themselves and results of their research in a timely and persuasive manner. They also will be able to take ethical decisions in multicultural environment and to resolve conflicts within their teams

  • Relations between a person and a group
    Social norm, social facilitation and social loafing, attribution error.
  • Effective teams
    different views on teams, roles and their perception, development stages (Tuckman and Shutz models), main characteristics of efficient teams. Team as a system. The team and the leader
  • Manager and a team
    self-realizing prophecy, role of a manager in building efficient teams. Management errors.
  • Time management
    how to fight procrastination, how to define efficient goals, how to get organized and manage your time
  • Intercultural communication and teams
    ethnocentrism and ethnorelativity, cultural dimensions, self and projected stereotypes, intercultural communication, MBI model to build efficient intercultural teams

    All students present have a "present" of 5 points  All useful participation brings additional points  if you miss a session or behave in an inappropriate way, you loose points.
