"For me personally, it was really interesting to learn how data is currently used in policy making and future implementations of it within the government decision-making process. The classes which covered E-Government was also fascinating, which looked at the different types of services offered by countries and the steps that they take to improve them".

"I chose Data Analysis for Politics and Society because the program was created half by sociologists and half by political scientists. Sociologists at St. Petersburg HSE are strong in data analysis methods, especially quantitative research methods. Political scientists for me were a kind of guarantee that everything would be fine. I graduated from the bachelor’s program in political science here at HSE, so the participation of professors from there added a few points in my eyes to the reliability of DAPS.
The programme provides useful skills including programming in Python. Our course chose Python as a programming language; we took all subjects on methods of analysis in it. Python is more universal; for example, it is more convenient to solve problems of automating both data collection and analysis itself."

"I chose a program at HSE that would help me improve my English and analytical skills. My bachelor’s degree was at the intersection of statistics and public administration, so programming was not new for me. DAPS has the ideal formula: a mixture of advanced data analysis methods along with a humanitarian bias, and all of this in English.
The program improved my knowledge of Python, text analysis, machine learning and A/B testing. In my first year, I joined an American Ad Mortgage Bank as a data analyst, and within a year I became a senior data analyst. Compared to others, the management team has repeatedly noted my strong base that stands out from other candidates."
