Undergraduate students and trainee researchers participated in the Conference “Lomonosov”

Undergraduate students of the 3rd year and trainee researchers of the Centre for Historical Research from the History Department HSE Saint-Petersburg Oleg Kudinov, Sergey Mikhaylov, Lilya Bolyachevets and Polina Slyusarchuk participated in the International Conference of Students, Graduates and Young Researchers “Lomonosov”. The conference was held from 13 to 17 April in Moscow.

Professor Sergey Glebov, Visiting Professor of History Department HSE Saint-Petersburg spoke on “Classical Eurasianism at the crossroads of political and cultural history”

Professor Sergey Glebov (Assistant Professor of History, Smith College and Amherst College, Visiting Professor of History Department HSE Saint-Petersburg, editor of Ab Imperio Journal) presented his work in a talk called “Classical Eurasianism at the crossroads of political and cultural history” at the seminar “Studies of humans as socio-political aspects (XIX - 1st half of the XX cc.)” (IGITI).

Marina Loskutova, an Associate Professor at the History Department, has published a book entitled “The Making of Applied Biology in Russia: the Interaction between Science and Practice in the 19th – Early 20th Century” (co-authored with Anastasia Fedotova, a senior researcher at the St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute for the History of Science and Technology, the Russian Academy of Sciences).

Associate Professor at the History Department Marina Loskutova has recently published a paper on the "Early research on insect pests in the Russian empire: bureaucracy, academic community and local knowledge in the 1830s - 1840s" in the Centaurus,the official journal of the European Society for the History of Science (ESHS), 2014, no 4.

Round Table 'The Fall of the Berlin Wall: Past, Present, Future'

On the 6th of November a round table ‘The Fall of the Berlin Wall: Past, Present, Future’, took place to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. Professor Alexander Semenov, Director of the History department at HSE St Petersburg and assistant at the Laboratory for Historical Research, Yana Kitaeva presented a paper on ‘The Question of German Reunification in Teymuraz Stepanov-Mamaladze’s Diaries’.
