Anton Kotenko has received a research fellowship at Harvard

Anton Kotenko, a Junior Research Fellow of the Centre for Historical Research, has received the Eugene and Daymel Shklar Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Ukrainian Studies at Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute for the fall term of 2015/16.

Evgeny A. Khvalkov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of History, defended his PhD dissertation at the European University Institute (Florence, Italy)

On September 8, 2015, Evgeny A. Khvalkov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of History, St. Petersburg School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Higher School of Economics (St. Petersburg), defended his PhD dissertation entitled "The Colonies of Genoa in The Black Sea Region: Evolution and Transformation".

Contemporary Anthropologies of Art

Nikolai Ssorin-Chaikov, an associate professor of the Department of History HSE in St Petersburg took part in the conference “Contemporary Anthropologies of Art” which was held at the Durham University (England) on September 9, 2015.

Tatiana Borisova an Associate Professor at the Department of History and Senior Research Fellow of the Center for Historical Research got the research position in the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

HSE Department of History Receives DFG Grant

Professor Peter Strohschneider, President of the German Research Foundation (DFG) awarded a grant to Director of HSE – St. Petersburg Professor Sergey Kadochnikov during his recent visit to HSE. The grant is intended for expanding the library of the Department of History.

World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies

On August 3rd-8th 2015, a working group from the International Research Project ‘Comparative Historical Studies of Empire and Nationalism’ took part in the ICCEES Congress in Japan.

17th World Economic History Congress

On August 3rd-7th 2015, Elena Kochetkova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of History took part in the 17th World Economic History Congress in Kyoto, Japan.

European Society for Environmental History Conference

From June 30 – July 3, 2015, Julia Lajus, Alexandra Bekasova, Marina Loskutova, Margarita Dadykina, and Elena Kochetkova, researchers from the Department of History and Center of Historical Studies, took part in the 8th Conference of the European Society for Environmental History. The event took place at University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in France.

A Gathering of Historians

Zelenogorsk hosted an international conference on the history of diverse societies, as well as on the history of nationalism. The conference, which was called ‘Ruptures and Continuities in Histories of Empire: Federalism, Regionalism, and Autonomies as Alternative Political Imaginaries of Post-Imperial Political Order’, was organized by the Department of History at HSE - St. Petersburg and drew leading experts in the field of ‘new imperial history’.
