Scarlet Sails - The Most Anticipated Event in St.Petersburg
The Scarlet Sails is a Russian holiday for graduates of secondary schools which is celebrated in Saint-Petersburg every year. Usually it is the date on the nearest Saturday to the lightest night. This holiday was first held in 1968. It was cancelled from 1979 until 2005.
Stages of implementation
The celebration of the Scarlet Sails consists of two parts: a concert on Palace Square, which you can see only if you are a graduate of a secondary school, and a pyrotechnic show with demonstration of the Ship with Scarlet Sails, music and firework.
Awards and titles
The Scarlet Sails won the title of the best urban event in Europe in 2016.
Scarlet Sails in 2019
Every year the organizers of the festival do their best to surprise its participants. That is why every year the holiday becomes more and more massive and popular. This year the Scarlet Sails will be held on June 23, and the entertainment program on the Palace Square will last for the whole day. In the evening there will be grand firework and meeting with the legendary ship with scarlet sails.

- 22:00 Theatrical prologue at the Palace Square
- 22:20 The beginning of concerts at the Palace Square and the Spit of Vasilyevsky Island
- 00:40 Fireworks
- 00:50 Brigantine with scarlet sails exit
- 01:10 The continuation of the concerts
- 04:00 The end of the concert program
