Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is designed to teach students the basics of how to plan and manage the finances of business projects in culture and creative industries. Students will cover the main concepts and principles of financial management and focus on evaluating financial performance and constructing financing plan. Understanding of sources of financing will be applied in practical project where students need to answer question how to raise funds and achieve financial success. The course is designed to help students to understand the cash flow streams and cost structure of the projects and it's relevance to marketing strategy. Special focus will be given to questions on how to plan, run, and manage a successful crowdfunding campaign on the fundarising platform and kickstart the way to success in fundraising.

  • non-blocking In-class tasks and activity
    attendance and activity at lessons, in-class tasks & hometasks completion and presentations, initiating contentive knowledge-based discussions
  • non-blocking Project presentation
    Group project on developing and financing real cultural object on tutor's choice, presentation of business idea with financial calculations and funding opportunities. Essential part of project requirements - initial visit to offered cultural object (out of schedule) and active participation in initial meeting and final research results delivery to the cultural object management.
  • non-blocking Exam
    Exam in written form, consists of multiple choice questions and open questions tasks.
