Full Syllabus

Abstract

Due to projectization trend in many industries, including creative ones, it matters to develop project approach awareness. Understanding basic principles and instruments of project management is inevitable for students who are going to work in Arts and Culture. The aim of the “Project seminar” is to create and develop students’ knowledge and skills of planning and development projects, connected with Arts and culture organizations activity, including flexible methodologies. The project management competencies are going to be developed as well as teamwork competencies. How to organize project work with team, especially in remote mode with virtual team, and how to lead it. The creative project will be realized during the course, but the focus will be on planning and organization processes, not the result itself.

Learning Objectives

To create and develop students’ knowledge and skills of planning and development projects, connected with Arts and culture organizations activity, including flexible methodologies.
To develop project management competencies
To develop teamwork competencies.
To develop soft-skills (presentation skills etc.).

Expected Learning Outcomes

Analyze and develop project documentation.
Organize interaction with the client.
Application of flexible technologies for project work.
Consider features of teamwork.
Define projects. Consider features of arts and culture projects.
Organization of teamwork for project.
Plan and organize project realization.
Report (present) project results .
Use methods of gathering and analyzing information for specific tasks.

Basics of the Project Approach
Applied project documentation
Project management.
Flexible project management methodologies (technologies).
Project teamwork.
Organization of project activity.
Presentation of project results.

Assessment Elements

Home task 1. Initiating and planning the project
Group work (4-5 students). Written form: 2 Word documents 1-3 pages each. Statement of Work (SOW) and plan of the project chosen.
Test
An individual solution of tests tasks. The tests are written and contain multiple choice questions and open-ended questions. The tests focus on the material discussed during the class. To prepare for them, students must attend lectures and workshops and be familiar with all course materials.The final test score is an average mean of the scores of all tests by topics and the final test.
Group project presentation
Students are united in groups of 4-5 people to carry out a project related to activities in the field of culture, art, tourism (for example, organizing an event). The defense of a group project includes the presentation (report) of the results of the project using the specific structure and the analytical note (Word document not less than 5 pages). Peer-to-peer review, faculty assessment and customer assessment of the results are expected. The Score is the sum of faculty score*0.4+ 0,3* Customer score + 0,2 peer-to-peer review score + 0,1*score for the review done
Home task 2. Organization of project group work
Describe the organization of the processes of group work on the implementation of the project. Group work (4-5 students). Written form: 1 Word document, 3 pages.
