About the Department
The Department was created on the basis of the Department of Politics, which was established in 2005. The main purpose of the department is to provide today’s students with professional training in the fields of political analysis and sociopolitical engineering, as well as in creating a special creative atmosphere that allows for the formation and development of a society of political experts who are capable of not only carrying out professional research, but also proposing and implementing solutions to relevant Russian and international problems.

From September 27 to October 12, 2019, the RPSA (Russian Political Science Association) Council of Young Political Scientists conducts a series of regional round tables related to one topic: “Knowledge of politics: how to get it and where to apply it?”.
The 111th Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA) took place from September 3 – 6, 2015, in San Francisco.
Mikhail Turchenko, Lecturer at the HSE Department of Political Science in St. Petersburg, told the HSE News Service about his participation in the 9th General Conference of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
On March 16-20 Mikhail Antonov, Associate Professor at the Department of Theory and History of Law and State and Sergei Akopov, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science delivered a series of lectures in English and French on legal and political system of the Russian Federation during the conference orgaznised by HSE partner university Science Po Aix-en-Provence.
