In the framework of a major academic mission to Latin America, a delegation from HSE University visited the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), a Brazilian higher education institution and analytical centre for training specialists in administration. Representatives of FGV have expressed their interest in signing a cooperation agreement in the spheres of media communications and game theory.

The Russian delegation also visited Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC), one of the leading business schools in Latin America. The university has campuses in São Paulo, Nova Lima and Belo Horizonte. Brazilian colleagues expressed their readiness to launch joint programmes in executive education—courses for training leading personnel in the sphere of higher education—and a willingness to organise group internships at visiting leading Brazilian companies for HSE students. The colleagues plan to carry out student and faculty exchange, joint research projects, and participate in seminars and academic meetings. They will also use the experience of the 'International Bachelor’s in Business and Economics' programme at HSE University-St Petersburg to open a similar one at FDC.

HSE representatives also had a meeting with the University of São Paulo, a flagship of education that ranks first in the QS Latin America and the Caribbean 2024 rating. As a result, the parties agreed to develop a joint block of media communications. As part of a summer school programme, students of the two universities will be able to visit Russia and Brazil and study the history, culture and sights of São Paulo and St Petersburg. The parties also plan to carry out faculty exchange within the 'Visiting Professors' project and joint online programmes.

The final stage of the HSE academic mission was a visit to the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), which ranks among the top three in the QS Latin America and the Caribbean 2024 rating. The university trains more than 40,000 students. The meeting resulted in an agreement to create joint academic programmes and research projects. In particular, HSE University plans to develop cooperation with the State University of Campinas in the economic, humanitarian and social sciences, as well as applied research under the BRICS framework.

During the academic mission to Latin America, HSE University-St Petersburg visited a total of five countries (Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile and Brazil) and held meetings with representatives of 14 higher education institutions.
