HSE University to Cooperate with Universities in Peru
In the framework of a major academic mission to Latin America, a delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg has visited leading Peruvian universities. Peru is considered to be a platform for creating an academic hub for work across the continent.
HSE representatives visited the National University of Piura (Universidad Nacional de Piura, UNP), which ranks among the top 10 universities in Peru. HSE University and its Peruvian colleagues plan to carry out a joint comparative cross-country analysis of the development of social entrepreneurship in Russia, Latin America and Southeast Asia in a mirror laboratory recently opened by HSE University and the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM).

Social sciences are very interesting for our countries, and we have quite similar approaches in this direction. That is why as one of the joint projects, we see a platform with data about forms and mechanisms of state regulation and support of social entrepreneurship and practices of implementing social entrepreneurship in various spheres: education, culture, creative industries and others. Such a platform will be able to provide unique knowledge and data, which will be in demand among the academic community, decision-makers, and investors.
The Russian delegation visited another leading Peruvian university—St Ignatius of Loyola University (Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, USIL). HSE University-St Petersburg and USIL have much in common, having been created at roughly the same time. In addition, internationalisation is a part of the strategy both at HSE University and USIL. Peruvian colleagues expressed deep interest in student exchange programmes and creating joint publications on various topics.

This is the third country we have visited during our mission, and in each of them, we see our colleagues' interest in Russian education and culture. This is a good basis for establishing academic ties and more. We consider Peru to be a platform for creating an educational hub to work in Latin America.
