HSE University Opens Access for the Students and Staff to Its Online Courses
Since October 24, the students and lecturers of HSE University have gained free access to the university online courses, numbering more than 200, without the practical and test materials in the system SmartLMS. The courses cover a great variety of topics—from the film analysis to personality psychology and individual differences, from the introduction to machine learning to game theory.
Higher School of Economics is not just four campuses in Moscow, St Petersburg, Perm and Nizhny Novgorod. HSE is a modern online university which unites students, lecturers, industry experts and partners on its own platform. Despite the development of digital technologies and tools in education, science and government, HSE University believes that it is important to maintain traditionally high standards of a classical university.
Since 2014, HSE University has been integrating online courses into the educational process. The quality of distance education at HSE University is assessed by both expert community and students: the average grade is 4,7 out of 5.
Among the available 200 courses are:
the course 'Experience Economy' introduces students to the phenomena of mass personalisation and subscription services, the concepts of Entertailing and Shoppertainment, and teaches to earn money on the joy of participation.
the course 'The Baltic in the early Modern Period' explains how the Viking Age changed the Baltic area and significantly expanded the understanding of the inhabited world in the European book culture, and trains the spatial reasoning skills.
the course 'Banking industry' tells why banks occupy a leading place in the financial market and which operations are traditional and relatively new for banks, and answers the crucial question: how do banks make money?
