The landscape of the higher education is changing, and permanent evolving is essential for the world’s universities. In order to meet the modern trends, HSE University – St Petersburg has been developing its own internalization strategy. As a part of the strategy, the university has been shifting particular programmes into English, developing clear perspectives of further career and professional development, offering international academic mobility programmes, and attracting eminent Russian and foreign lecturers and scholars. What do the best university's Bachelor's programmes look like?

Oriental Studies

The programme ‘Asian and African Studies’ combines classic and modern approaches to train qualified specialists who obtain not only historical and linguistic competences, but profound knowledge in Economics, International Relations, Politics and Culture of a particular region. Along with the local teachers, native speakers teach students different languages at the programme’s tracks.

Management

Management is represented by the programmes ‘International Business and Management Studies’ and ‘Logistics and Supply Chain Management’.

International Business and Management’ is fully delivered in English. Thus, the programme gives an opportunity to study in Russia to those students who do not speak Russian at all.

When we present the programme, we always emphasize how we differ from others. We focus on analytical skills and working with data. The demand for the programme has been increasing due to the fact that it had been transferred to the Double Degree track with the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Close cooperation between the European university and HSE University – St Petersburg shows the high quality of our educational offering.

Talking about the programme ‘Logistic and Supply Chain Management’, the location of the campus heightens the interest among applicants. St Petersburg is a modern and vibrant city and a logistic centre situated by the Baltic sea. Qualified logistics specialists will always be in high demand here, and this attracts school graduates who would like to dedicate their future to such field.

Philology

The programme ‘Philology’ takes all the best from classical philological education and liberal arts education. It includes solid training in languages, and implies modern vision of humanities knowledge, embracing dialogue and diverse approaches and perspectives.

Political Science

English-taught programme ‘Political Science and World Politics’ is unique for the Russian educational market as it brings together Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, and Project Management. Students opt for the educational track, either Europe or BRICS, and the second language.

The programme is truly international, and I am sure that applicants, who have been fluent in English since school days, will be intersested. As we had shifted the programme into English, we have been getting applications from around the world – from the USA and Mexico to Thailand and Indonesia. Studying in international and multicultural environment in English is a great advantage for students, especially if they want to build a career working with foreign partners in Russia or abroad.
