Each of ten nominations has been voted at two stages, while the total number of nominees in the 25-year anniversary of HSE hit the record of 355.

Sergey Kadochnikov, HSE St Petersburg Director took the prize for Contribution to the Development of HSE in 2017. This prize is awarded to HSE employees whose work has resulted in improvements to the University’s reputation, as well as its visible development.

Boris Gasparov

Professor, Department of Comparative Literature and Linguistics

People use to treasure their merits whenever all is going well, and to blame the directory whenever it’s not. Sergey is a lucky exclusion of this rule, his role is evident in the current rise of HSE St Petersburg. Above all things I would like to mention about him, I highlight his ability to see any problem through and verbalize the core of it. And if you agree upon the decision, you can rely on its fulfillment. One year ago, I became a laureate of the ‘Golden HSE Award’ in 2016 due to the brand new philology programme success that I represent. I would like to emphasize that Sergey’s mentioned leadership features have fully reflected in launch and development of this programme.

Elvira Arif

Elena has changed the sociology academic discourse by a consequent and long-term study of Russia’s youth. The analysis of her work gives a full impression of youth sociology in Russia over a hundred year. Her approach allows to keep up with the pulse of young people life and global context in the domain. Elena’s studies on remote and marginalized groups in the modern society, whose life experience is now vivid thanks to her efforts, are noteworthy, too. This is a real contribution to Russia’s sociology development and new topics rise in the social interaction fields. In terms of increasingly tough requirements to scientific activity and changes in social and political context of sociologist work, her determined, sincere and highly professional level is admiring and inspiring. Elena is a social science lead, so I wish her luck and give her all my support.

Georgy is the chairman of Student Council in St Petersburg Campus, not only student. In any of his role, he is highly motivated person. Since he chairs the Council, we witness the greater importance of this institution in decision-making over two years between student community and HSE St Petersburg administration. I suppose that Georgy deserves credit for it.
