HSE University–St Petersburg and Indian Institute of Management to Launch Joint Seminar for PhD Students
Galina Shirokova, Director of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre at HSE University–St Petersburg and Doctor of Economic Sciences, held a series of seminars for students of the Indian Institute of Management in Indore (IIM—Indore). Plans are also underway to launch a joint educational project.

The Indian Institute of Management is one of the world's elite business schools. It has 'triple crown accreditation'—the highest international qualitative assessment awarded by three leading organisations. The partnership with IIM—Indore opens up new opportunities for the School of Economics and Management at HSE University–St Petersburg.
As part of the Scholar-in-Residence programme, Galina Shirokova, Director of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre, participated in academic events at IIM—Indore and held negotiations about potential cooperation. At her initiative, in October 2025, they are launching an online joint research seminar for Russian and Indian PhD students who will present their research in economics and management. Prof. Shirokova also became a member of the IIM—Indore dissertation committee.

'We agreed on several cooperation directions, and I have already received a request about academic mobility opportunities from the Indian side. The exchange of PhD students and professors between universities will help to strengthen our cooperation,' shared Galina Shirokova.
As part of the Scholar-in-Residence programme at IIM—Indore, Galina Shirokova organised a two-day research seminar titled 'Research in Strategic Entrepreneurship' for PhD students of the institute and also delivered the lecture 'Entrepreneur-as-Scientist, Founder Resilience, and New Venture Performance: A Multi-Country Moderated Mediation Analysis' for PhD students and professors. The professor noted the high level of training and deep involvement of Indian PhD students.
'It was especially pleasant to see both PhD students and recognised professors with publications in leading journals among the participants. Their openness to dialogue and experience exchange is a great platform for efficient work and the growth of cooperation in various academic directions,' said the director of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre.

According to Galina Shirokova, the value of such visits is not only in specific agreements. What is more important is to immerse oneself in the life of a foreign university: understand the academic culture, adopt practical methods, and learn more about colleagues' lifestyles. This kind of deep understanding is the basis for a long-term and fruitful partnership.
