Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course is aimed at introducing everyday life of youth through the prism of the study of academic literature and conduct their own empirical research. Students will study basic paradigms, theoretical approaches, empirical methods of youth research.

  • Understand and discuss topics related to youth cultures, scenes, solidarity
  • Improve their skills in developing research design in the framework of youth studies

  • Apply concepts and theories to solve specific research problems; use concepts and principles in new research contexts
  • Analyze academic literature in a selected research field. Evaluate the logic and argumentation of academic texts.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of fundamentals of qualitative sociological research of youth

    Presentation of chapters of a book or a series of articles dedicated to a design of qualitative research and literature reviewing.

    The exam is conducted in the form of a presentation of the final project Exam format: presentation 15-20 minutes per presentation with the main points of your thesis proect - Topic - Research question and research problem - Aims and objectives of the research - Object and subject of the research - Theoretical framework - Research methodology - Results

    Presentation of chapters of a book or a series of articles dedicated to еру qualitative research methodology.

    An active participation in discussion, working in groups, asking and answering the questions.
