Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course is designed to cover topics in the sociological analysis of consumption, theoretical as well as methodological aspects. The seminars are designed to discuss classical sociological models and modern studies in the field of consumption. One of the theoretical focus for these seminars is the intersection between sociological ideas and cultural studies, for example, we will discuss postmodern tradition in the explanation of consumer behavior. Also, tasks will provide insights into the current methodological debate in the analysis of consumption practices, visitor studies, experiments and focus groups. As a result of this course students will acquire the skills needed to create their own research in the sphere of consumption.
