Student Valor
Valor J, the team of the HSE St. Petersburg campus Valor Student Club, has won the finals of the BAT Case Competition, organized by British American Tobacco.
Students of three leading St. Petersburg economic universities, HSE, Graduate School of Management, and St. Petersburg State University of Economics, took part in the contest organized by British American Tobacco Russia. The contest aims to identify the best future businesspeople, leaders and management, and offers a chance for competitors to test their skills in solving complex business tasks and working as a team. The winners have an advantage in recruitment to BAT Russia career programmes.
The tournament is organized in two stages. During the first, long-distance stage, the teams try to solve a case study independently and send a presentation of their solution to the organizers. The two best teams from each university get an invitation to the second stage, where they meet teams from other universities and fight for the title of BAT Case Competition Champion.
By the way, the victory in BAT Case Competition is not the only recent achievement of the Valor Student Club. Svyatoslav Derzhavin, the club’s president, represented HSE at an international case study championship, Peak Time, which recently held its final in Riga. Peak Time is the largest business game in Eastern Europe, and has been organized since 1999 by students of the Stockholm School of Economics Riga. About 2000 students from 70 countries (including the US, Germany, Great Britain, Brazil, China, Canada, Singapore, Sweden, and Italy) participate in it annually. Svyatoslav Derzhavin’s team took third prize in the contest.
