Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course explores key concepts of curatorial practice, its historical development, its place in the art system, and its impact on social processes. Students will master the fundamentals of art management and explore the characteristics of contemporary art. Drawing on the experience of renowned international professionals, the course program covers key areas of curatorial practice, including international and Russian approaches, the relationship of art to the economic and social context, and exhibition and event organizing techniques. Students will learn how to select content in an information overload, master methods of presenting art in various environments, analyze the processes that shape the art market, and understand how to effectively present their opinions and engage audiences with high-quality writing. This course examines the use of artificial intelligence systems for optimizing search queries, automatic abstracting of scientific articles and extracting information from them, as well as neural networks, and natural language processing.

  • Students will master the fundamentals of curatorial practice, including an understanding of historical aspects, the role of curators in art and society, and methods for analyzing and selecting artistic content in today's information overload.
  • Students will develop professional competencies in cultural management, enabling them to effectively organize exhibitions and events, present art in various environments, analyze the art market, and engage audiences with high-quality textual materials.
