HSE University St. Petersburg International Partners’ Week is a major international event created to strengthen HSE University cooperation bonds with its global partners and encourage new developments and dimensions in areas of higher education and research.

International Partners’ Week will provide a platform for thoughtful insights and facilitate dialogues among the exponents. This event will feature discussions, workshops, and expert presentations, alongside a delightful cultural experience that will display the beauty and history of St Petersburg.

International Partners’ Days is a brilliant opportunity to learn more about HSE University-St Petersburg and share the best practices in international education and research, to enhance existing partnerships and explore opportunities for new projects.

The programme of events will also include HSE University-St Petersburg Student Fair, where our partner universities will be able to present their educational programmes to students and colleagues.  

As a part of the vibrant cultural programme, you will be able to explore St Petersburg, the former capital of Imperial Russia with its magnificent palaces, parks, and monuments. Guided excursions around the most important highlights of the ‘Venice of the North’ are included.

Practical Information

International Partners’ Week will take place at HSE University-St Petersburg on 19-23 May 2025. It is the period of the so-called ‘white nights’, heralding the arrival of summer. This is the best time to experience our historical city, Russian culture and Russian traditions.

Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, 18 May.

Please note that you may need a visa to enter Russia. See the ‘Visa’ section for further information.

Accommodation, all transfers, coffee breaks, meals and cultural events within the IPW programme are covered by HSE University-St Petersburg. 

We kindly ask our partners and friends to register before 5 April 2025.

Visa

Please note that you may need a visa to enter Russia. If you do, please indicate this in your registration form.

HSE University-St Petersburg will issue official invitation letters for ‘humanitarian visas’ and provide assistance to IPW participants requiring Russian visas. Please note: this invitation is not a visa. It does not give the holder permission to enter Russia. It is a document necessary for the visa application.

You can find out what your visa requirements are by going to the website of the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your home country.

It usually takes at least 30 days to issue and send out a visa invitation letter, and up to 10 days for a visa to be issued from the date of visa application.

Programme

The International Partners Week 2025 became one of the most important international events of the year for the Institute for Asian and African Studies at HSE University-St Petersburg. After five days of the forum, experts in Asian and African studies from HSE University-St Petersburg held negotiations with representatives of 18 global universities from Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America, signed important agreements and shaped the directions for international cooperation in the future. Professor Evgeny Zelenev, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies, shares the results of IPW-2025.

The St Petersburg School of Arts and Humanities presented the Centre for Russian Language and Culture and held negotiations with universities in Japan, Egypt, Turkey, and Brazil. The School of Art and Design agreed to create joint installations with the Turkish university, international exchanges and fashion shows with international partners. Deans and staff of the schools summed up the results of the International Partners' Week.

As part of IPW-2025, representatives of the School of Economics and Management (SEM) and the School of Computer Science, Physics and Technology (SCPT) of HSE University–St Petersburg discussed joint educational projects and research initiatives with their partners. International colleagues showed great interest in the expertise of HSE University–St Petersburg and a willingness to develop long-term partnerships.

At the end of May, HSE University-St Petersburg became a platform for meetings of researchers and professors from the leading universities worldwide. The participants of the International Partners' Week were accompanied by volunteers selected among students of HSE University-St Petersburg. Young people helped the guests in an unfamiliar city and introduced them to Russian culture and the university. The large-scale international forum gathered representatives from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in St Petersburg. Apart from the intense business programme with expert discussions, signing of agreements, and creating international collaborations, guests of HSE University–St Petersburg got to know the cultural heritage of the Northern capital—seeing the city from the Neva and visiting the Hermitage, Tsarskoye Selo, and other significant sights.

The School of Social Sciences has summed up the results of the International Partners' Week 2025. The school representatives highlighted the productive dialogue with colleagues from universities in India, Latin America and other countries. They've reached agreements on mobility programmes, joint research and educational initiatives.
