Analytical Report on Social Entrepreneurship in Malaysia (2025), prepared by the Satellite Laboratory of HSE University – Saint Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM Malaysia). This report lays the groundwork for further interdisciplinary research on social entrepreneurship ecosystems in rapidly developing economies. RepLab Presented Innovative Approaches to Service Learning and Social Entrepreneurship at the International Conference at AlmaU (Kazakhstan)

The paper aligns with the ongoing research priorities of the International Satellite Laboratory “Reflecting Impact”, a joint initiative between HSE University–St. Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), which recently released a comprehensive analytical report on social entrepreneurship in Russia.

During the session, the diversity of existing definitions of social entrepreneurship was discussed, highlighting how varying legal systems, policy frameworks, and cultural contexts shape local practices. She emphasized that while no singular definition prevails, a shared focus on creating measurable social value through entrepreneurial logic remains central across models.

The report prepared by the Satellite Laboratory of HSE University St. Petersburg - UTM Malaysia explores the dynamic landscape of the social entrepreneurship sector in Russia, highlighting its vibrant interplay between social awareness and entrepreneurial rigor. This introduction sets the stage for an in-depth analysis of how social enterprises integrate social objectives with business methodologies, reflecting the complexities and potential within the Russian context.
