On the penultimate day of International Partners’ Week 2026, the Institute of Asian and African Studies at HSE University — Saint Petersburg held a panel session dedicated to contemporary approaches to public diplomacy and the promotion of the international image of Eastern countries.

As part of International Partners’ Week 2026, students of the Institute of Asian and African Studies at HSE University — Saint Petersburg attended a lecture by Dr. Yuko Adachi of Sophia University on contemporary corporate governance reforms in Japan.

On the second day ofInternational Partners’ Week 2026, Zhang Xin, Associate Professor at the School of Politics and International Relations ofEast China Normal University, delivered a lecture for students of the Asian and African Studies programme on the evolution and current state of Russia–China relations.

Students of the Department of Korean Studies at the Institute of Asian and African Studies, HSE University — Saint Petersburg, met with Professor Kim Sunil of Kyung Hee University.

As part of International Partners’ Week 2026, students of the Institute of Asian and African Studies at HSE University — Saint Petersburg attended a lecture by Dr. Mohamed Ali Chihi, Executive Director of the Global Institute for Strategic Research and representative of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, titled “The Rising Powers and Regional Security in the Middle East.”

From May 18 to 22, the Kanatny Tsekh venue hosts an exhibition by the Minhwa Art Club of the Department of Korean Studies at the Institute of Asian and African Studies, HSE University — Saint Petersburg. The exhibition is part of the programme of International Partnership Week 2026 and introduces visitors to the tradition of Korean folk painting known as minhwa.

On March 11, 2026, the Institute for Asian and African Studies hosted an online roundtable titled “Women and Women’s Movements in East Asia.” The programme featured student presentations focusing on gender issues in China, Korea, and Japan.

"Translation of Japanese Manga Comics and Video Subtitling" is one of the longest-running and most in-demand projects implemented at the Department of Japanese Studies of the Institute of Asian and African Studies for bachelor's students enrolled in the Asian and African Studies program. Today, we will provide a detailed look at what project participants do, summarize the interim results of the first stage, and also speak with students who are mastering the basics of comic translation this year.

On January 15, 2026, as part of a series of joint online seminars with Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, students from the Asian and African Studies program at the Institute of Asian and African Studies (Department of Japanese Studies) discussed their academic interests and current research topics with students from Japan.
