Teachers and researchers from HSE University-St Petersburg took part in the 14th Global Week. This is a unique format of international academic cooperation based on one of India's leading private universities—Chitkara University. They gave lectures, master classes, seminars, and presented the results of their research and field work.

Global Week took place mid-February in the Indian city of Chandigarh. Participants of the 2024 Global Week included representatives from leading higher education institutions in Russia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Bangladesh, and the Philippines. Teachers from around the world shared their knowledge and experience with Indian students. This event aims to establish academic mobility and cultural exchange, bringing together students from different countries. Among the invitees were teachers and researchers from HSE University-St Petersburg.

Mikhail Tyurkin, Academic Supervisor of the HSE University-St Petersburg Programme ‘Media Communications,’ gave lectures and master classes on journalism and mass communication. Participants learned skills needed for gathering information for news materials, conducting interviews, and preparing reports. Mikhail Tyurkin also shared personal memories of past business trips to unique corners of the world with Indian students.

‘This is a wonderful event, an amazing combination of professional training and cultural exchange. I even envy the Indian students a bit: they have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience from teachers from the best universities around the world,’ says Mikhail Tyurkin. ‘They are all very bright, interesting people with their own individuality, unique biography, and the highest level of professionalism. This greatly enriches the learning process and provides a powerful impulse for the professional and civic growth of students.’

A separate track for students of Chitkara University was the work of the HSE Art and Design School, a new division of HSE University-St Petersburg. Its Dean Dmitry Kharshak and Senior Lecturer Andrey Punin developed and conducted several interactive master classes on visual arts for Indian students.

According to participants, the event will result in cooperation between HSE and Chitkara University in developing joint research projects in media, design, and communications. Also planned are the organisation of student exchanges and joint scientific publications.

Chitkara University was established in 2009. It is one of India's leading private universities and is among the top 500 universities in Asia (QS World University Rankings: Asia).
