HSE Saint Petersburg Inspires Students
HSE Saint Petersburg appreciates its students’ talents and is supportive of all the initiatives. The students, in their turn, are ready to share their inspiration with their alma mater. Daria Yudina gifted HSE Saint Petersburg Kantemirovskaya building with her painting.
Daria Yudina, 4th year student of undergraduate programme in Management, started painting in May 2017. ‘I loved to draw from early childhood, but never got any special training. For me painting is a way to express myself. Sometimes you are so overwhelmed with all the emotions, as if this energy running through your fingertips and you just need to let it out! I mostly paint people – they are inspiring. I find beautiful faces and images when I am on the metro, walking in the street, or looking at stuff on the Internet.’
– How did you decide to make a present for the university?
I kind of thought it would be great to decorate the walls of HSE with my paintings. I genuinely like the overall design of the Kantemirovskaya building. When we had just moved there, I noticed the complex colours and combinations. Paintings look great on such spaces. I messaged Ksenia Alekseevna (Kuzmina), that I want to paint something for HSE.
– What is this painting about?
As for me, the painting is about students. If you look closer, you can see that they are all very different both outside and inside - they have different characters, dreams, goals. What is special about the university is the fact that it brings together very different people. We do not just study; we discover the whole world, values of other people, their experiences. At the end of the day, we quite often find ourselves being friends with people who are very different from us.
The picture is now in the 3rd floor hall of HSE Saint Petersburg Kantemirovskaya building.
