HSE St.Petersburg Develops Cooperation with Korean Universities
From 17 to 21 of October HSE Saint-Petersburg delegation comprising the director of the university Sergey Kadochnikov and head of the International office Olga Krylova visited South Korea. The official visit was organized by Saint Petersburg committee for science and higher school.
The negotiations resulted in signing the academic exchange agreement with Seoul national university. HSE has also successfully discussed signing agreements with the Universities of Kyung Hee and Sungkyunkwan. The newly established connections with the Korean partners will allow HSE students from different programs to benefit from a whole variety of mobility opportunities. Moreover, HSE Saint-Petersburg will hopefully be soon welcoming professors from Korea, creating a solid base for all kinds of academic cooperation. Korean colleagues expressed their interest in providing discounts for students participating in short-time mobility.
The representatives of Seoul universities were especially interested in language programs. We expect to start accepting incoming Korean students, learning Russian. Notably, the students from HSE, undergoing mobility in Korea will be able to not only get free tuition but also attend free Korean language courses.
Apart from student mobility, other forms of cooperation were discussed as well. During the visit to Hanyang University, the members of both HSE Saint-Petersburg and Korean foundation have expressed mutual interest in future academic collaboration. Moreover, Seoul University will possibly be joining the Global Business and Innovation Policy Consortium. The first steps in this direction will be undertaken in the nearest future.
