HSE Joins U.S. News’ Top-150 Subject Ranking for 2018
Higher School of Economics (HSE) has improved its position in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Ranking for Mathematics, joining the Top-150 universities in this area. In addition, HSE joined the U.S. News Best Global Universities and the Social Sciences and Public Health rankings for the first time ever.
HSE went up 37 places in the Mathematics ranking and now places 144th. In addition, the University debuted in the US News Best Global Universities ranking, taking eighth spot among Russian universities, and 714th globally. Furthermore, HSE is now the only Russian institution in the Social Sciences and Public Health ranking.
A total of 15 Russian universities appeared on the global ranking, with 12 of them being participants of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100. In particular, the Mathematics ranking lists four universities from Russia, and HSE is one of the three leaders in this subject area.
U.S. News, an American media corporation, publishes a global university ranking, which evaluates all fields of activity, along with rankings for 22 subject areas. This year, the number of universities in the global ranking has grown, and now includes 1,250 universities from 74 countries, while last year, it presented the results for 1,000 universities from 65 countries. Furthermore, the total number of ranked universities has increased from 400 to 600 in four subject rankings: Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Engineering, and Physics.
