HSE Students Took Part in ‘Clean Coast’ Campaign
HSE students have taken part in the recent ‘Clean Coast’ campaign held in Turku, Tallinn, Helsinki and St. Petersburg.
Over 500 people — students, volunteers, environmentalists and concerned residents — participated in the environmental marathon on the Gulf of Finland.
In St. Petersburg the event was organized by the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety and the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with NGOs.
Diana Khusnijarova, a participant from HSE, said that it wasn’t just a cleaning day, it was a real quest that included four rounds: coast cleaning, sports race, ecological quiz and puzzles. During the event the participants worked in teams, solved an eco quiz and other puzzles and had fun. The students managed to collect 100 bags of garbage and significantly improved the ecological situation on the coast. After the marathon the participants had hot tea and shared their impressions of the day.
The team from St. Petersburg College of Water Resources won the marathon; students from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University took the second place and students from Herzen State Pedagogical University came third.
