Series of Interdisciplinary Seminars "Global Energy Policy and History" Start
Master programmes in Comparative Politics of Eurasia and Applied and Interdisciplinary History «Usable Pasts», jointly with Political Science Department, HSE-SPb and History Department have launched a new project – a series of interdisciplinary seminars «Global Energy Politics and History»in actual issues in modern politics, society and history, particularly in energy policy, environmental and technical history.
Master programmes in Comparative Politics of Eurasia and Applied and Interdisciplinary History «Usable Pasts», jointly with Political Science Department, HSE-SPb and History Department open the new project – a series of interdisciplinary seminars «Global Energy Politics and History» in actual issues in modern politics, society and history, particularly in energy policy, environmental and technical history.
The inaugural meeting of the interdisciplinary seminar was dedicated to the presentation by Dr. Jack Sharples, (PhD, European University of St.Petersburg) entitled 'The Baltic Gas Market: Ongoing Trends and Recent Developments'.
This guest lecture considered four key developments on the Baltic regional gas market:
- Declining demand for natural gas in the Baltic region, especially In relation to electricity generation;
- The construction of new infrastructure that enables new supplies to be delivered to the region;
- Regulatory changes that are increasing the commercial competitiveness of the regional gas market;
- The outlook for gas supplies to the Baltic regional market, especially for Gazprom.
