HSE University–St Petersburg hosted a fair which brought together representatives of various nationalities of Russia. Komi-Permyaks and Urals, Pomors, Karachais and Balkarians, Buryats and Tatars shared unique features of their cultures, presented their national dishes, and took international students on an interactive journey around Russian regions.

On March 20, HSE University–St Petersburg hosted a vibrant event dedicated to the ancient Eastern holiday of Nowruz. Uniting the traditions of many peoples, this holiday symbolises the start of the new year and the renewal of nature.

The HSE building on Kantemirovskaya Street hosted the 'Cultural Cafe' devoted to Latin America. Students from Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador shared the traditions, landmarks, and lifestyle of their countries.

HSE University-St Petersburg unites students from the majority of continents. University extracurricular activities help to shape a unique educational and cultural experience. The project 'Cultural Cafe' brings together students from various academic concentrations and countries who are interested in exploring academic mobility opportunities.

Bright saris, mehendi, flavorful curry and extraordinary dances—for one day, the HSE building in Kantemirovskaya street turned into hot India. The traditional festival of Diwali, which symbolises the victory of light over darkness, united professors, students and guests from all over the world.

Language anxiety, crumbling of the usual ‘self’–practically every international student faces these and other challenges. On October 10, the World Mental Health Day, psychologists from HSE University-St Petersburg Tatiana Kazantseva and Ksenia Kashentseva shared how they help students overcome difficulties and adapt to life in a new country.

Expert sessions, an introduction to Russian culture, and international networking—on September 17–22, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the World Youth Festival Assembly. It united more than two thousand people from 120 countries and various Russian regions and universities, including HSE University–St Petersburg.
