A Gathering of Historians

Zelenogorsk hosted an international conference on the history of diverse societies, as well as on the history of nationalism. The conference, which was called ‘Ruptures and Continuities in Histories of Empire: Federalism, Regionalism, and Autonomies as Alternative Political Imaginaries of Post-Imperial Political Order’, was organized by the Department of History at HSE - St. Petersburg and drew leading experts in the field of ‘new imperial history’.

The symposium "Prussian-German-Russian relations in the era of Otto von Bismarck"

The symposium was organized jointly by the Otto von Bismarck Foundation, the German History Institute in Moscow, and HSE campus in St. Petersburg.
Welcome addresses were given by Dr. Heike Peitsch, German General Chancellor in St. Petersbug, Professor Dr. Nikolaus Katzer, Director of the German History Institute in Moscow, Professor Dr. Ulrich Lappenküper, Otto von Bismarck Foundation, and Sergey Kadochnikov, Director of the HSE campus in St. Petersburg.

The Department of History Higher School of Economics – St. Petersburg and the University of Jyväskylä (Finland) start cooperation for student and teacher international mobility in the academic year 2015/2016

The University of Jyväskylä (JYU) received funding from the Centre for International Mobility (CIMO) of Finland in order to intensify international student and teacher exchange with HSE –  Saint-Petersburg through the Finnish-Russian Student and Teacher Exchange Network (FIRST).

Undergraduate students and trainee researchers participated in the Conference “Lomonosov”

Undergraduate students of the 3rd year and trainee researchers of the Centre for Historical Research from the History Department HSE Saint-Petersburg Oleg Kudinov, Sergey Mikhaylov, Lilya Bolyachevets and Polina Slyusarchuk participated in the International Conference of Students, Graduates and Young Researchers “Lomonosov”. The conference was held from 13 to 17 April in Moscow.

HSE Petersburg Historians and Social Researchers at the XVI April Conference on Social and Economic Development

With less than a month until the XVI International April Conference opens in Moscow, academics from HSE St Petersburg are preparing sections and seminars on a broad range of research topics from space exploration in pre-revolutionary Russia to contemporary happiness and work.

Round Table 'The Fall of the Berlin Wall: Past, Present, Future'

On the 6th of November a round table ‘The Fall of the Berlin Wall: Past, Present, Future’, took place to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. Professor Alexander Semenov, Director of the History department at HSE St Petersburg and assistant at the Laboratory for Historical Research, Yana Kitaeva presented a paper on ‘The Question of German Reunification in Teymuraz Stepanov-Mamaladze’s Diaries’.
