HSE University-St Petersburg hosted the Indian Students Week. The event gathered more than 50 students from India. The students represented 15 top universities in the country. In particular, there were representatives of IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, UPES, IIM Amritsar and others. The goal of this large-scale initiative of HSE University-St Petersburg is to introduce talented students from India to educational opportunities in Russia, in particular, HSE educational programmes in four directions: business and economics, design, social and computer sciences.

On May 16-17, HSE University-St Petersburg hosted the first student research conference on Political Science and related disciplines 'May Forum'. It gathered more than 50 young researchers from five Russian regions. The students organised the events with the financial support of the HSE Centre for Student Academic Development.

In the second half of April, there was one of the largest fairs of contemporary art in St Petersburg—Port Art Fair. Designing its construction at 'Sevkabel Port' was the responsibility of Eva Chernykh, student of the Bachelor's programme 'Design'.

The work by Sofia Fedotova, 4th-year student of the Bachelor's track 'Communication Design', has made it to the final of the MAX3MIN 'very short' film festival in Italy.

The Art and Design School has become a separate faculty within the structure of HSE University-St Petersburg. The new department includes the bachelor's and master's programmes in Design. Mitya Kharshak has been appointed dean of the faculty.

HSE SPB Day has been held at Sevkabel Port in the open air. HSE students were congratulated on the beginning of the academic year by the trustees, faculty deans, and the rousing HSE Dance Club. The first-years had an initiation ceremony, participated in activities from student clubs, and danced to popular songs on the Gulf of Finland. They received well wishes from the professors, representatives of large companies and, of course, student organisations. Ekaterina Shelukhina is completing her fourth year of studies in the Bachelor's programme 'Applied Mathematics and Information Science'. In autumn, she passed the selection process for the VK project workshop. There, she works on the interface of the Robbi machine-learning platform. Ekaterina shared her impressions of the project and her trip to Moscow.
