Our recent findings reveal the profound impact of university environments on PhD students’ well-being, with significant implications for their academic and personal success.
Our study, involving 208 Russian participants, uncovers four distinct well-being profiles among PhD students during the challenging COVID-19 era: Disrupted Well-being - Major concerns over career prospects and academic completion, with notable dissatisfaction in the program. Confident Well-being - High resilience and satisfaction, with students showing strong performance across well-being domains despite the pandemic. Health and Research Concerns - A focus on personal health and academic issues, indicating a need for tailored support. Social Connections Concern - Emphasizes the importance of social ties, which are crucial during isolating academic pursuits. This groundbreaking research highlights the necessity for PhD schools and programs to adapt and evolve, ensuring they support the diverse needs of all students to foster a conducive academic and personal growth environment.
