HSE University-St Petersburg Presents Its Educational Programmes at International Exhibition in Indonesia
At the end of January, Jakarta (Indonesia) hosted the IIETE 2025 international education and training exhibition. HSE University-St Petersburg and three other Russian universities represented the higher education system in Russia. Over several days, the exhibition welcomed more than 50,000 people.
This year's Indonesia International Education Training Expo & Conference (IIETE 2025) brought together 40 higher education institutions and organisations from all over the world. Representatives of the Centre for International Education at HSE University-St Petersburg (CIE) told Indonesian school and university students and their parents about bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes.

The development of partnerships with universities in the Asia-Pacific region is one of the strategic directions of international activities at HSE University. We strive not only to attract talented students from this region but also to establish long-term academic relations with leading educational institutions. Such cooperation opens up new opportunities for student mobility, joint research projects, and educational initiatives. IIETE 2025 is the first event in a series of planned meetings for this year. The Russian delegation was the largest among the international universities in attendance.
According to Nadezhda Osipova, manager at CIE, many students at the exhibition were interested in enrolling in Russian universities specifically. 'The greatest interest was in our English-taught programmes. The majority of questions were about programmes in economics, computer sciences, political science, and international relations. In addition, we told attendees about the Centre of Russian Language and Culture—it's an opportunity for international students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful education at Russian universities. Within a year, international students learn Russian in order to be able to study in Russian-taught programmes in the future', says Nadezhda Osipova.
HSE University actively cooperates with Indonesian universities. It has established partnerships with the University of Indonesia, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology, BINUS University, Atma Jaya Catholic University, and the LSPR Institute of Communication and Business. Nadezhda Osipova also noted that IIETE 2025 was attended by representatives of HSE University-St Petersburg's partner universities from Thailand. 'We managed to discuss joint projects: summer schools and student exchange programmes. In addition, at the HSE stall, we presented our short-term educational programmes. We agreed to establish communication and continue our fruitful cooperation,' she added.

The practical benefit of such partnerships is obvious. We see the growing interest in HSE programmes. Indonesian students gain access to high-quality education and opportunities for participation in research projects. It encourages the exchange of knowledge and best educational practices between our countries. The development of academic ties with leading Indonesian universities also opens up new opportunities for joint educational initiatives, research, and faculty exchange. We are confident that it not only strengthens the position of HSE University in the international arena but also contributes to creating a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between Russia and Indonesia in the sphere of education.
There are currently students from Indonesia studying management and economics at HSE University, and the university runs student mobility programmes. HSE University-St Petersburg provides training in the master's programme 'International Business in the Asia-Pacific Region'.
In November 2023, HSE University opened its first Indonesian representative office at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya. An educational hub for students from the Asia-Pacific region, its work is coordinated by the HSE campus in St Petersburg.
