This year in MagoLego happeared a course designed for foreign students - "Russian Language and Culture".
Blinicheva Valeria is a specialist in contemporary art and design. Her research interests include key issues of contemporary art and design, marketing in the art market and the fashion industry, and socio-cultural aspects of art development at the present time. This year, within the framework of MagoLego, Valeria will teach the course "Russian Language and Culture" for foreign students of master's programs.
What will be new in your course about the Russian language and culture?
This course will show the linguistic features of our multifaceted language through the prism of cultural and historical discourse. We will learn and use useful words and expressions in the context of our country's traditional holidays and customs, cinema, architecture, Russian cuisine and more. According to statistics, most foreign students are interested in the language environment of the country in which they study. This is important not only for successful study and scientific work, but also for communication with new fellow students and friends.
Is this course seen as an alternative to the Russian language courses that HSE offers to international students?
The course is offered as an effective addition to existing Russian language courses. As part of the classes, it is not planned to analyze grammar and phonetics, instead, students are encouraged to practice their previously acquired language knowledge, while learning a lot of new and interesting things about the peculiarities of Russian culture. Of course, in capital cities you can try to get by with knowledge of English, but this significantly reduces the opportunities for traveling around the country, meeting new people and reading classical literature in the original.
Who should take this course?
The course will be of interest to foreign students who would like to not only expand their vocabulary, but also immerse themselves in Russian culture in all its diversity. Especially for those who want to learn more about the traditions and features of our beautiful Northern Palmyra - St. Petersburg. In my opinion, for students who study in Russia, the study of the Russian language for better immersion in the environment should become one of the priority classes, along with other subjects.
Will the training be in Russian or in English?
For greater efficiency and convenience of students, training will be held in English.
What is the most difficult thing in Russian?
Our language is as multifaceted and beautiful as it is insidious. If we omit the complexities and intricacies of cases, which sometimes baffle even a native speaker, then this is the use of words and expressions in the correct meaning and context.
