Course Syllabus

Abstract

The aim of the course is to familiarize the participating students with the advanced concepts and frameworks of purchasing and supply management (procurement), to familiarize with the role of logistics and supply chain management in the production enterprise, warehousing and inventory management, principles and tools of operational efficiency and to develop students’ related analytical and decision making skills related to industrial enterprise functionality.

Learning Objectives

• • Topics such as role of supply chain management in an industrial enterprise, procurement in competitiveness of companies, total cost of ownership, supplier relationship management, supply risk management, international sourcing, procurement synergies, service procurement, sustainability will be discussed during the lectures

Expected Learning Outcomes

• Examine and critically appraise quantitative tools relevant in order to explore the strategic procurement management
• Understand the challenges of uncertain economic environment in order to discuss ongoing research while using various concepts from the materials offered in the course
• Demonstrate deep knowledge and critical understanding of theories, principles, concepts and methodologies of supply chain management of the manufacturing enterprise
• Plan and perform independent research projects in the area of supply chain management applying the advanced concepts of the strategic procurement management, lean principles and operational excellence

• Key role of supply chain at a manufacturing enterprise
• S&OP, production planning and supply chain management
• Transport logistics. Role of LLP
• Finished product. Localization. Customs
• Warehousing and inventory management
• Operational efficiency at the enterprise
• Supplier relationship management
• Procurement processes. Evaluation of the effectiveness of procurement

Assessment Elements

• Exam
  The exam consists of two written questions (50% of the exam grade each one).
• In-class regular tasks

Interim Assessment

• 2025/2026 2nd module
  0.6 * Exam + 0.4 * In-class regular tasks
