New Head of the HSE Department of Political Science in St. Petersburg

Since September 2, 2019, the HSE Department of Political Science in St. Petersburg has a new head - Andrey N. Scherbak.

Andrey has a PhD in Political Institutes, Processes and Technologies, defended his thesis on "The Impact of Coalition Politics on the Formation of the Party System in Russia: a comparative analysis." He also graduated from St. Petersburg state University received a Degree in History and defended his Master's in Political Science in European University in St. Petersburg, Department of Political Sciences and Sociology. Andrey has been working at HSE for 9 years already.

Andrey has completed many internships and advanced training events, such as the annual summer school of the laboratory for comparative social research and the HSE-based advanced training programs. Having ten years of scientific and pedagogical experience in the field of applied political science, Andrey conducted lectures, workshops and seminars not only in Russia but also in Ukraine, Great Britain and Norway. His professional interests include nationalism, regionalism and political economy. His recent publications were devoted to modern trends in Russian national politics, nationalism in the USSR, comparative biographies of Ukrainian and modern Russian generals, and the history of Soviet national politics.
