About the Department
The department focuses on the study of the language, national traditions, history, culture, religion, and socio-economic and political development of Japan. It offers an interdisciplinary approach to Japanese studies, covering the most important aspects of both traditional and modern Japanese life. To achieve maximally efficient learning outcomes, students focus on various aspects of the Japanese language, including socio-political, scientific and conversational vocabulary, as well as the language of social networks and other linguistic environments.
Olga Klimova, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Japanese Studies at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of the National Research University Higher School of Economics-St. Petersburg took part in the International Pacific Theatre Festival as a interpreter of Japanese director Miura Motoi on October 2-4, 2024.
