The department focuses on the study of the language, national traditions, history, culture, religion, and socio-economic and political development of Japan. It offers an interdisciplinary approach to Japanese studies, covering the most important aspects of both traditional and modern Japanese life.To achieve maximally efficient learning outcomes, students focus on various aspects of the Japanese language, including socio-political, scientific and conversational vocabulary, as well as the language of social networks and other linguistic environments.
The department’s staff includes PhD holders, experienced practitioners, and native speakers who actively engage in research. Their research incorporates the latest methods from modern humanities, political, and socio-economic sciences. The instructors are highly qualified professionals in oral and written translation. To educate more effectively, the department develops teaching materials for both students and department educators. The combination of teaching, research, and practical activities allows the department team to improve the student learning process and demonstrate the importance of theoretical knowledge for practical work.
The department maintains active cooperation with leading universities and research centres in Japan. Students have repeatedly won prizes in competitions and contests for Asian languages and have received grants for internships at top universities in Japan.
The department staff organises student research through individual and group consultations, preparation for participation in academic conferences, and supervision of research work. Student coursework, completed under the guidance of department staff, has repeatedly taken first place in research competitions. Additionally, the department implements numerous research and practice-oriented projects, where students, under the supervision of department staff, can deepen their knowledge and acquire professional skills in the field of Japanese studies.
