Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course examines the fundamentals of managing social enterprises in the context of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students explore how social enterprises create social value while maintaining financial sustainability and how AI technologies can enhance strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, impact measurement, operational efficiency, and innovation. The course emphasizes responsible and ethical AI adoption in mission-driven organizations and develops students' ability to apply AI tools to address social and environmental challenges. The course will be especially useful for those students who have not studied management at the undergraduate level.

    Students develop an AI-enabled social enterprise concept addressing a specific social or environmental challenge. Projects should include: • Problem analysis • Mission statement • Governance structure • Human resource strategy • Stakeholder analysis • Business model • Financing plan • AI integration strategy • Ethical risk assessment • Social impact measurement framework
  • non-blocking Case Study Analysis
    Analysis of a real-world or simulated cases, evaluating organisational governance, leadership, human resource practices, and strategic recommendations supported by relevant management theories.
  • non-blocking Individual Knowledge Assessment
    Individual test assessing students' understanding and application of key concepts in management and social enterprises. Questions evaluate conceptual knowledge, analytical reasoning, and the ability to apply management principles to practical scenarios.
