Also HSE is a partner in the international project "PROMoting youth Involvement and Social Engagement: Opportunities and challenges for 'conflicted' young people across Europe", implemented as part of European Commission’s research and innovation agenda “HORIZON 2020” in 2016-2019.

The report covered such issues as the distribution of power in the feminist community, feminist debates about commercial sex, about inclusiveness and creating a male-free space. These lines of debate were considered by the researcher as vectors of value-cultural contradictions that form a semantic continuum of feminist solidarities in the scene of St. Petersburg. After the speech, Olga herself became an informant, interviewed by undergraduate HSE student from Moscow campus, which studies sociologists, who uses ethnographic method. Olga narrated about her experience of interviewing.

Alyona Kravtsova presented results of her study of civil activism, with a focus on those who fighting not only for public but also for the moral order in St. Petersburg. She spoke in the “Local government and civic self-organization” section and started the tenth session of the "Civic activism and public participation". The audience was especially attracted by qualitative methodology in this study. The discussion after her speech was protracted and caused new interesting acquaintances with colleagues from different Russian universities.

Iskander Jasaveev and Anastasiya Shilova presented the first results of an ethnographic study of the HIV activism in St. Petersburg and Kazan, pursued in collaboration with Nadia Nartova. Analysis showed that HIV patients experience multiple forms of stigma and marginalization, particularly self-stigmatization, marginalization and discrimination by close aids and health workers. The researchers noted that AIDS activists create venues for conversation and interaction, which is free from stereotypes and fears. Participants of such places redefine themselves as "normal" and learn to resist the stigma in everyday interaction. The text of the report is available here. Presentation. The researchers presented their report on eleventh session of the "New practices: expanding the space of civil society."
