On July 3, the concert and sports complex 'Arena' hosted one of the main events of the year—the graduation ceremony of HSE University-St Petersburg. It gathered more than 4,000 guests: graduates, their friends and families, professors, mentors, and representatives of the university's industrial partners. As part of IPW-2025, representatives of the School of Economics and Management (SEM) and the School of Computer Science, Physics and Technology (SCPT) of HSE University–St Petersburg discussed joint educational projects and research initiatives with their partners. International colleagues showed great interest in the expertise of HSE University–St Petersburg and a willingness to develop long-term partnerships.

The Rope Shop building hosted more than 30 lectures in the key areas of education, science and creative industries. An extensive educational programme, prepared by leaders from the academic communities of Brazil, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, India, and other countries, allowed students to immerse themselves in the practices of global knowledge without leaving their university.

HSE University–St Petersburg has launched International Partners' Week, which brings together more than 100 representatives of leading global universities. The grand opening ceremony took place on May 20 in the new HSE building on Vasilievsky Island.

On January 25, Russian Students' Day, HSE University-St Petersburg will open a new educational space in the building of the Rope Shop of the Red Nailer factory on Vasilievsky Island. The monument of constructivism, which was designed by the prominent architect Yakov Chernikhov, will become a centre for the development of IT, engineering, design and media communications. Approximately four thousand students will study in the building.

HSE University-St Petersburg held the International Summer School & Conference on Artificial Intelligence—ISSCAI 2024. It was organised by the School of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science together with the Laboratory for Social and Cognitive Informatics supported by VK and other partners. A one-week intensive course gathered talented students, PhD students and developers from all over the country—from Moscow to Yekaterinburg as well as Kazakhstan and Egypt. Especially for them, leading experts from Russia, the UAE and India delivered courses on key trends in the sphere of artificial intelligence: from computer vision to music signal processing.

The admissions to bachelor's and master's programmes in Physics at HSE University-St Petersburg are still ongoing. Today 'Scientist's Code' introduces you to the head of the department to which these programmes belong. Daniil Kornev is a 2022 graduate of the Bachelor’s programme 'Political Science and World Politics'. Now, he is studying in the campus master's programme in UX-analytics and working at a gamedev company as a head of data analysis direction.
