Emilien Mantel — About Choosing a University in Russia and Master's Thesis
Choosing a topic for the master’s thesis is a very important point that needs to be approached responsibly. It should meet the interests of the researcher, be relevant and make a certain contribution to the scientific community. Emilien Mantel, a 2022 graduate of the Master’s Programme 'Global and Regional History', shared his personal experience and talked about plans for the future.
Emilien received his bachelor's degree from the University of Strasbourg in France. He studied archeology and obtained a license in social and human sciences. In Saint-Petersburg, the scope of Emilien’s interests narrowed to the study of the problem of horse meat consumption in France since 1950. His final thesis examines the social and moral aspects of horse meat consumption over the past 70 years. The research goal of Emilien was to comprehend the horse meat scandal that occurred in 2013 and stirred up the entire European scene.
