Abstract

The objective of the interdisciplinary course is to introduce the concept of the ideology as a useful notion for humanitarian analysis of the past and present. The intellectual history of debates around the ideology, and the various ideological practices from early XIX c. onwards, sheds light on the global and regional context of political processes. The course will examine the ideas in their context, starting from Karl Marx’s critique of the “ideology” and ending with contemporary debates influenced by Slavoj Zizek. The participants will be acquainted with research approaches to social, economic, and cultural aspects of politics, and will be able to use them in their research.
