Matthias Battis at the Graduation Ceremony at Oxford University

Last weekend one of the Research Fellows at the HSE St Petersburg’s Centre for Historical Research, Matthias Battis, who joined the CHR in 2016, had the privilege of participating in Oxford University’s degree ceremony at the city’s Sheldonian theatre, the university’s principle assembly room.

Wearing full academic dress, which was last significantly modified in the 16th century, Matthias was presented with the degrees of MPhil and DPhil, the latter being among the highest degrees conferred by Oxford.

We congratulate Matthias and wish him further academic achievments!
