7th international conference of the European Society for the History of Science (ESHS)

On September 22-24, 2016, the faculty members of the History Department, Associate Professor Julia Lajus and Associate Professor Marina Loskutova took part in the 7th international conference of the European Society for the History of Science (ESHS), which took place in Prague.

Marina Loskutova, together with her colleague from the St. Petersburg Branch of the Institute for the History of Science and Technology, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Anastasia Fedotova, organised the symposium 'Skulls and roses: natural history collections and their meaning in the 18th-19th centuries'. Here she presented her paper focused on apothecary gardens and plant medicine in the Russian empire in the late 18th - early 19th centuries. Julia Lajus participated in the symposium 'The Acknowledged Ambassadors: Scientists' role in international relations during the Cold War'. She read a paper "From Nuclear Test Ban Negotiations to the Club of Rome and the First World Climate Conference: Soviet Geophysicist Yevgenii Fedorov on the Stage of Science Diplomacy".
