For English-speaking participants
SaintPetersburg OPEN 2026
May 26-29, 2026
Abstract submission deadline: April 5, 2026
Saint Petersburg OPEN, a school-and-conference with international participation on Optoelectronics, Photonics, Engineering and Nanostructures, continues the tradition of annual scientific seminars for young scientists on current challenges in physics and technology, founded on the initiative of academician Zhores Alferov, the Nobel Prize laureate in physics. Since 2021, the conference has been organized by HSE University - Saint Petersburg. In 2026, the school-and-conference will be held with the patnership of the journals "Физика и техника полупроводников" (Semiconductors) and "Письма в журнал технической физики" (Technical Physics Letters)
The goal of the school-and-conference is to introduce young researchers, students, and PhD students to current challenges and achievements in the physics and technology of nanostructures, nanostructure-based devices, and related fields. Participants will also gain experience in public speaking, submitting research papers for publication, presenting their results to the scientific community, exchanging ideas, and stimulating the development of scientific collaboration.
All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference's electronic proceedings. The best papers from the poster session will be awarded certificates of honor and prizes. At the authors' request, extended abstracts of accepted works may be submitted to special issues of the journals "Физика и техника полупроводников" (Semiconductors) and "Письма в журнал технической физики" (Technical Physics Letters) (the founders are the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ioffe Institute. The journals are published by the Ioffe Institute. The journals are cited in the "White List," the core of RSCI, and the list of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Russian Federation. Articles are published in the journal free of charge after the conference if they successfully pass the peer review.
