As a student in the Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication program at HSE, I have always been intrigued by the concept of intercultural communication and language learning. Studying foreign languages and intercultural communication can be a fascinating experience, particularly for those interested in learning about different cultures and languages. Recently, I was given an incredible opportunity to participate in a departmental trip to the Russian Academy of Science and INION RAN’s Fundamental Library.
One of the primary objectives of our trip was to begin our internships and lay the groundwork for our master's dissertations. The internship provided practical exposure to ongoing research projects, allowing us to collaborate with scholars and contribute to their work. Immersed in the dynamic academic environment, we had the privilege of exploring diverse research topics and methodologies, fostering a deeper understanding of our respective fields of study. Moreover, the trip offered a space for reflection and brainstorming as we commenced our dissertation planning. Surrounded by a wealth of resources, academic experts, and fellow researchers, we were able to refine our research questions, identify gaps in existing knowledge, and outline the frameworks for our dissertations. The guidance and mentorship provided by our professors and the scholars we met during the trip were invaluable in shaping our research trajectories.

At the Russian Academy of Science, we were given an overview of the various research activities and projects being undertaken by the Academy. We also had the opportunity to interact with professors and researchers who were eager to share their knowledge and expertise. The highlight of the visit was a session on the Russian language and its importance in global communication, which was particularly interesting given our area of study. Next, we visited INION RAN’s Fundamental Library.
The INION RAN’s Fundamental Library branch is a renowned institution located at Volkhonka Street, 18/2 metro station Kropotkinskaya. The institution is part of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which is one of the leading research institutions in Russia. The library branch is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and disseminating knowledge related to the humanities and social sciences, making it a critical resource for scholars and students alike.
The importance of the INION RAN’s Fundamental Library cannot be overstated. The library boasts a collection of over 14 million books, journals, and manuscripts, making it one of the largest libraries in Russia. During our visit to the INION RAN’s Fundamental Library, we were blown away by the extensive collection of material available. The staff were extremely helpful in guiding us through the collection and providing assistance in locating the specific resources we needed for our research. The experience was truly eye-opening and highlighted the importance of preserving and maintaining historical and cultural artifacts for future generations. At the INION RAN’s Fundamental Library we explored the vast collection of books, journals, and manuscripts on different literatures, histories, and cultures.

The trip offered unparalleled access to world-class research facilities, experts, and resources, enabling us to dive deep into our areas of interest and plan for our master's dissertations. Moreover, the journey facilitated personal growth, cultural enrichment, and a sense of camaraderie among our Master's Batch. This transformative experience has undoubtedly laid a solid foundation for our future academic endeavors, inspiring us to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to our respective fields of study.
