Media Communications: Some Words
We asked Mikhail, a 2nd year student of the Faculty of Media Communication, to talk aout entering the university and about the things he likes at the university.
I entered the University without any expectations.
Since the 10th grade, I've been thinking about journalism. I visited journalism training courses and after that I started doubting whether it was really what I wanted. I had no idea what media communications were. But, firstly, it sounds pretty cool; secondly, the idea of going into some kind of ignorance, so to speak, of learning "without spoilers" seemed to me like a tempting idea.
The set of USE subjects was the same as for journalism. In order not to get burned out from the heap of entrance exams, I decided to apply to the National Research University Higher School of Economics only for media, and for journalism - to the Moscow State University (just in case: there were much lower marks).
I decided that if I went through media communications with points, I would go there. That's how it turned out.
I believe that I did not fail, first of all, because of the people around me. I study with people with similar interests, so it's just interesting to spend time with them, you can learn from them. But the real thrill is what a wonderful person they are. Knowing that you're dear to some people I've met recently is something I've never had before.
The educational process itself leaves an increasingly positive impression. In my first year, I had a number of very basic subjects, but some of them were brightened up by excellent teachers. In general, if you count, the courses, which were interesting in themselves, were the majority. Another good thing - courses on choice. It's great that you can find something for yourself. But the problem is that it is not always possible to choose in time. And, in principle, there are much more interesting disciplines to choose from.
