My First Impressions of Studying in HSE

My First Impressions of Studying in HSE

Two years ago I got accepted to the university on "History" undergraduate programme. I could not even imagine that it would be so exciting and thrilling. My dream came true; I became a student of one of the best universities in Russia.

First of all, I would like to share with you my emotions and impressions during the first days of studying. I was really happy that I became part of such a big community as HSE. It was interesting to meet new people, know some facts about professors and their methods of teaching.

Our curators organized a meeting where all students tried to communicate with each other to know each other better. My faculty is very interesting. It offers a lot of opportunities: for example, I have a chance to choose courses which are not connected with history, attend different conferences, learn foreign languages, and other things which are definitely important for me.

I was really impressed by teacher’s attitude towards students. They are ready to help you in any situation, give recommendations, and explain your mistakes. Also I can communicate with teachers by emailing them and asking all questions. It is comfortable if a professor does not work at the University full time or is an invited professor.

To tell the truth, I thought that first days would be simple, but I faced some difficulties. Firstly, from 9 o’clock until 6 I had lessons and it was very exhausting.  Secondly, I had a problem with my coursework and was sent to the retake. So it wasn’t as easy as I imagined. But there were a lot of happy moments in studying: for example, the day of HSE when every student is invited to the Gorky Park, have fun and relax. Different competitions, games, dance and music will accompany you during the day. You are able to take photos with the symbol of HSE – a crow and enjoy friendly atmosphere around.

In conclusion, I would like to point out that I do not regret that I had been admitted to HSE. This university gives me a wide range of knowledge, an opportunity to choose that path of learning, in which I am interested in, and also be myself. I am not afraid of telling my thoughts and sharing attitude to life. My first days at the University were full of positive mood and unforgettable moments. Thanks to hardships that have fallen on my shoulders; I gained patience and strong endurance.
